Adult Division Regional Art Winners Announced

On Sunday, April 2, 2017, guests gathered in the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion Gallery for an awards ceremony and reception honoring participants in the 2017 Regional Artists Competition and Exhibit Adult Division.

During the reception, Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center Executive Director, Pete Woods, announced the first place winners and honorable mention recipients in each category. Each first place winner received a $25 cash award made possible through Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center funding.

Woods congratulated all award winners, honorable mention recipients, and exhibit participants on behalf of the Center’s Staff and Board of Directors.

In the adult drawing category, first place was awarded to Richard Bruns with honorable mentions to Lindsey Bowman, and Lauren Hensley.

In adult quilting, first place went to Regina Bruns and an honorable mention was given to Dorothy Karvelis.

First place in the adult other category was awarded to Melissa Hager with honorable mentions given to Shabaka James, Marty Harris, and Marianne Luther.

Darlene Tarlton won first place in adult 3-dimensional, sculpture with honorable mentions given to Pete Woods and Marianne Luther.

In the adult watercolor category, first place was awarded to Zan Thompson with honorable mentions to Richard Bruns and Cindy Sellers.

The Adult Division of the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Regional Artist Exhibit and Competition will be on exhibit in the Lucas Mansion Gallery through the end of April. Located at 316 Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County, the Center is open Monday– Friday from 10:00am until 4:30pm and on Saturday from 10:00am – 3:00pm.  All Lucas Mansion Gallery exhibits are free and open to the public.
