Beginning November 1st – December 31st, the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Emerging Artists Wall exhibit space features the work of Mona C. Woody. The exhibit is on display at the Center’s Lucas Mansion, which is located at 316 Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County.
Woody has always enjoyed art, especially the tradition of crafting Christmas gifts for friends and family. Viewing artwork at a local fair sparked her interested in painting. Woody quickly self-taught through Facebook videos and continues to develop her skill.
According to Woody, “I believe in the process of messing up a lot of canvases that you shape the paint, the paint doesn’t shape you. Painting is like taming a wild animal. My preference is abstract art, with my favorite medium being acrylic pour painting.”
Located on the third floor of the Lucas Mansion, Emerging Artists Wall exhibits are free and open to the public Monday – Friday from 10:00am until 4:30pm and on Saturday from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
