Hiddenite Arts Announces Adult Division Regional Art Winners

On Sunday, April 8, 2018, guests gathered in the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion Gallery for an awards ceremony and reception honoring participants in the 2018 Regional Artists Competition and Exhibit Adult Division. The event also honored Emerging Artists Wall exhibitor, Karli Pendergraft, and featured poetry readings and a book signing by regional author, Doug McHargue.

During the reception, Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center Interim Director, Karen Walker, announced the first place winners and honorable mention recipients in each category. Each first place winner received a $50 cash award made possible through Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center funding.

Walker congratulated all award winners, honorable mention recipients, and exhibit participants on behalf of the Center’s Staff and Board of Directors.

In the adult drawing category, first place and an honorable mention was awarded to Laura Hensley with an honorable mention to Richard Bruns.

In adult other, first place and an honorable mention went to Marty Harris with honorable mentions given to Marti Kardol, Regina Bruns, and Bonnie Glessner.

Stan Holt won first place and an honorable mention in adult 3-dimensional, sculpture with honorable mentions given to Dean Wright.

In the adult watercolor category, first place was awarded to Richard Bruns with honorable mentions given to Lindsey Bowman.

Chris Parsons won first place in adult painting with honorable mentions given to Richard Bruns, Mary Morris, Aida Rivera, Rita Ledford, and Nancy Holsclaw.

The Adult Division of the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Regional Artist Exhibit and Competition will be on exhibit in the Lucas Mansion Gallery through the end of April. Located at 316 Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County, the Center is open Monday– Friday from 10:00am until 4:30pm and on Saturday from 10:00am – 3:00pm.  All Lucas Mansion Gallery exhibits are free and open to the public.
