Beginning February 4th and continuing through February 28th, the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion Gallery will feature an exhibit of photography that celebrates Black History Month.
The exhibit will include black & white photography from 1900 through 1975. Through photography, the exhibit will honor the lives of African Americans in this region. Photographs are on loan from the Statesville Historical Collection, founded by Steve Hill, who operates this unique non-profit museum at 212 N. Center St. in Statesville, NC. A retired life-long educator and administrator, Hill now devotes his time to preserving the history of Statesville and surrounding areas.
The exhibit, located at 316 Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County, is free to visit Monday – Friday from 10am – 4:30pm and on Saturday from 10am – 3pm.
