In conjunction with their 36th Annual Hiddenite Celebration of the Arts festival, the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center will hold their annual Celebration Senior Adult Day Luncheon on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. The luncheon will feature musical entertainment by the “Seniors on Stage” of Wilkes County.
The program will be held at the Center’s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road) starting at 10:00am and will feature a delicious lunch (Ham & Cheese croissant, salad, deviled egg, beverage, and dessert), entertainment, games, and fellowship.
Cost for attending is only $8 per person, all-inclusive. Reservations for this event are required and may be made by calling (828) 632-6966. Guests of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this special program honoring senior adults.
After the luncheon, guests are encouraged to visit the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion (316 Hiddenite Church Road) to view their current art gallery exhibits, which include the work of husband and wife artists Sarah Hedrick and Lawrence Kanipe, a traveling exhibit of photography, “Cecil Sharp in Appalachia, (On loan from the Country Dance and Song Society, with permission of the English Folk Dance and Song Society), and an Emerging Artists Wall exhibit of found object sculpture, “Material Men,” by Cor Kardol.
Guests may also tour the Hiddenite Center’s turn of the 20th Century museum and enjoy their exhibited collections of antique dolls, toys, gems, and minerals.
The Lucas Mansion Gallery and collections are self-guided and are admission free. Guided tours of the first floor museum are $4.00 each for adults and $3.00 each for senior adults.
The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s 36th Annual Hiddenite Celebration of the Arts is a free admission, one of a kind arts and cultural heritage street festival, held Saturday, September 23, 2017 on Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County from 9am – 4pm.
