In partnership with the Town of Taylorsville and Alexander County Government, the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center is pleased to announce the kick off for their annual Summer on the Square Free Concert Series, featuring The Night Move Band.
This free community event will be held on Friday, June 14th, beginning at 7:30pm at the new Alexander County Courthouse Park, located at 131 West Main Avenue, Taylorsville. In case of rain, concerts will be moved to The Center’s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road). Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for their convenience.
The Night Move Band is a 5 piece band that performs R&B, Beach, Classic Rock, and Funk music. The band features 4 vocalists that each take a turn at singing lead. The band consists of guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, drums, saxophone, and percussion.
The Night Move Band was nominated 2 Times for Rising Star Award at the Cammy Awards (Beach Music Awards) and once for Smoothie of the Year with their original “Smooth Stepping Papa”.
Each member of the band has 20+ years of experience traveling up and down the East Coast and performing with many top acts in the music business.
The band boasts of having members that have played in the past with Jackie Wilson, The Clovers, Billy Scott, Billy Joe Royal, Clifford Curry, Tommy Roe, and others. The Night Move Band has shared the stage with many regional and national acts including The Tams, Clifford Curry, Billy Scott & The Party Prophets, The Embers, The Chairmen of the Board, Jim Quick & The Coastline Band, Sir Jonathon Burton, Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs, The Catalina’s, The Fantastic Shakers, The Carolina Soul Band, Hip Pocket, Band of Oz, The Castaways, The Entertainers, and many others.
This unique collaboration between local government and the arts is credited with providing diverse live music and cultural entertainment in downtown Taylorsville at no cost to the public.
Summer on the Square will continue with FREE concerts on Saturday, July 6th with “Kent Dowell and the Bluegrass Blend” (starting at 7pm) and on Friday, August 16th with “Pandemic” (starting at 7:30pm).
