A 3-dimensional standing exhibit in recognition of Black History Month in February and the 100th Anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement (August 2020) is featured on 3rd floor of the Lucas Mansion for viewing through February 28, 2021.
The panel exhibit and photos provide a unique synopsis of the history of the Women’s Suffrage Movement and the intricate involvement of African-American women in the process. Additionally, support materials from students of Alexander Central High School will be added for the feature. Students in selected teacher’s classes will choose a historical figure related to the project and compose essays or poetry.
This featured exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 10 – 4:30 pm and Saturday 10 – 3 pm.
This exhibit is on loan from the Swannanoa Valley Museum & History Center in Black Mountain, NC.
