Multicultural Festival Set for June 11th at Alexander County Courthouse Park

The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center invites everyone to The Multicultural Festival which will take place on Saturday, June 11th from noon until 4pm at the NEW Alexander County Courthouse Park, located at 131 W. Main Avenue in Taylorsville, NC.  Food Vendors and Food Trucks representing different cultures will be on hand including Hmong Alliance Fellowship’s egg rolls , El Tacorriendo’s Taco Truck, Abby’s Shiver Shack and Cherry Pop’s Ice Cream Truck.    

There will be hands on art activities for children including Native American bead making with Lisa Ray, and African musical instruments.

Performance Schedule : Tentative and Subject to change.

12-12:30- Roca Eternal, Hispanic music ensemble

12:40-1:10  One Spirit, Native American Dance Troupe

1:20-1:50- La Puerta Choir

2:00-2:30- April Turner. African Storytelling & Dance

2:40 until-      Come Together Children & Adult Choir

In the event of rain,the festival will be held at The Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center’s Educational Complex located at 70 Hiddenite Church Rd., Hiddenite, NC.  Please check Hiddenite Arts Facebook page, website and listen to B86 Radio.  A decision will be made concerning rain location by 9:00am on Saturday, June 11th.

Donna Latham, Executive Director of The Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center stressed, “This is a fun, family friendly event where everyone can come together to celebrate the diversity within our community, learn more about each other, and appreciate our differences.  We anticipate a large number of folks for the ever popular Hmong eggrolls, so arrive early bring your chairs and blankets, and enjoy the activities, food, ice cream, splash pad, and performances. “   

The Hiddenite Center gratefully acknowledges the Alexander County Government for providing the Alexander County Courthouse Park for residents to enjoy, The Rotary Club for funding the Rotary Performance Stage, and the Town of Taylorsville for providing needed support to carry out the event.

The event is supported by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources, with generous funding from the Sharpe Chair of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University.
