Waterfowl Carvings by James O. Drum now on display at the Lucas Mansion
Center’s Folklife area features Wood Carvings by James Drum
Alexander County woodcarver, James Drum will be featured in the Lucas Mansion Folklife section on the 2nd floor of the Lucas Mansion through March, 2021. Drum, of the Ellendale community has established himself in the region, state, and nation, with duck enthusiasts who recognize his fine representations of wood carved fowl and aviary species. His newer pieces accurately exhibit the colors and patterns of each species. In the past year he has devoted his time to creating pairs of ducks, male and female that echo the patterns of the other, while displaying the differences needed for nesting and camouflage.
Mr. Drum’s work was featured in the Lucas Mansion Gallery 2002, and he has demonstrated his folk art skills as part of the annual Hiddenite Celebration of the Arts and the annual North Carolina Heritage Fair, and has shown his work at area woodworking shows and the Northwest North Carolina Visitor Center. Visit the Mansion during March for this added feature!
